Choosing a platform

Shopify vs WooCommerce for an Arabic store: what should you test?

Two website options compared side by side.

Try the same Arabic shopping task on both proposed setups. A translated demo is not enough to judge the theme, apps and checkout together.

Use a demanding product as the test

Choose a product with a long Arabic name, several sizes and mixed English identifiers. Review its collection, gallery, selected options and cart on a phone. Then ask the editor to update the translation. Record which parts belong to the theme, platform or external tools and which require paid work. The better choice is the one that supports your actual catalogue and maintenance process, not the one whose homepage happens to show Arabic correctly.

Test language coverage

Use the same product, size guide, policy and checkout scenario in each candidate. Identify which content is translated through the platform, theme or extension. Missing translations and unsupported widgets should be visible in the comparison.

Test layout and editing

Review mixed Arabic and English names, numbers, cart states and long labels on mobile. Ask the editor to change a translated product. Record whether updating the original creates extra work and who approves the Arabic meaning.

Check external dependencies

Payment pages, booking tools and other embeds may follow their own language support. Verify them separately. Choose the setup that meets your actual requirements rather than assuming any theme advertised as multilingual is complete for your catalogue.

Compare a complete Arabic journey

Use the same Arabic product title, options, images and delivery information on both demonstrations. Test navigation and any third-party components too. Record the custom work and ongoing editing each needs. A language setting alone does not tell you how comfortable the finished store will be.
