Choosing a platform
Shopify vs WooCommerce: which is better for SEO?

Both can support useful search-friendly pages. What matters is the site you publish and maintain, not an SEO promise attached to the platform name.
Compare the work your team can sustain
A publishing team may care about how easily it creates and updates detailed articles; a retailer may care more about product and collection content. Test those tasks, then inspect the actual titles, canonical links, redirects and language pages. An installed plugin or an automatic sitemap does not prove everything is correct. After launch, use Search Console to distinguish access problems from competitive ranking issues. Do not change platforms simply because someone promises first position without examining your content and current problems.
Review technical requirements
Inspect canonical URLs, redirects, language routes and sitemap handling in each proposal. Confirm how the owner will edit titles and descriptions. A plugin installation is not proof that these outputs are correct.
Review content operations
A content-heavy business may value a particular editorial workflow; a product-led team may prefer a different catalogue process. Ask editors to publish and update representative pages. Content that cannot be maintained becomes a weakness on either platform.
Compare measurable evidence
Use Search Console and a documented baseline after launch. Separate crawl issues from competitive ranking questions. Avoid accepting promises of first position as evidence for a platform choice; evaluate scope, execution and the ability to improve the site.
Compare control and execution separately
Identify the search tasks your site needs, then demonstrate how the proposed setup handles them. Review content, internal links, performance and migration work alongside technical controls. More settings do not guarantee better decisions, and fewer settings do not explain the quality of the published pages.
