Operations and next steps
What is structured data, and does your business website need it?

They describe page information in a machine-readable format. They can support understanding, but they do not buy a ranking or guarantee a special search display.
A hidden claim is still a published claim
An organisation description should use the business’s real name and details; an article should describe its actual content. Do not fill a generator’s rating, address or price fields with invented information just because they are available. Keep markup aligned with visible text and update both together. Validate the syntax and relevant feature rules, then inspect the live output. A successful code build is not proof that Google will show stars or cite the page.
Choose accurate entities
Identify whether the page describes an organisation, article, product or another supported type. Include only details the business can substantiate. Do not create review ratings, prices, addresses or credentials simply because a generator offers those fields.
Connect markup to content
Keep names, URLs and descriptions consistent with the page. Update the data when the underlying information changes. A hidden claim in JSON-LD is still a published claim, not a harmless technical placeholder.
Validate and monitor
Check syntax and the relevant platform or search-engine guidance. Distinguish valid vocabulary from eligibility for a particular search feature. Use actual inspection results after deployment rather than assuming a successful code build proves search appearance.
Keep the markup consistent with the page
Add only types and properties that describe genuine visible information. Review them when content changes and use the relevant validation tools. Structured data can help machines interpret a page, but it cannot create a real review, qualify an unsupported claim or guarantee a special search appearance.
