Doing business in Qatar

Should a Qatar restaurant use its own website alongside delivery apps?

A site can help people find the menu, location, booking or catering information. It does not have to recreate a delivery platform to be useful.

Choose the job before adding ordering

If most enquiries concern catering, build a useful catering explanation and request route. If you want direct orders, confirm kitchen acceptance, payment, dispatch and support first. Compare real channel fees and responsibilities instead of assuming your own checkout is automatically more profitable. Keep menu availability and hours current across the routes. A clear link to external ordering can be better than a cart the operating team cannot reliably serve.

Define the site’s job

Decide whether visitors should view a menu, reserve, ask about catering or place an order. Keep dietary and availability information accurate and approved by the operator. Do not add checkout when kitchen and dispatch systems cannot handle it.

Review channel responsibilities

For each channel, identify order acceptance, delivery, payment, refunds and support. Compare actual fees and integration requirements with the operating team. A link to an external platform is different from processing the order yourself.

Maintain consistent information

Assign menu updates, hours and sold-out handling. Test the path from mobile discovery to the intended action. Use real locations and contact channels, and avoid claims of partnership or delivery coverage that have not been agreed.

Keep operational information current

Start with the menu, location, opening hours and the actual order or reservation route. Assign someone to update these when service changes. If the site accepts orders, confirm how the kitchen receives them and handles unavailable dishes before adding promotions that increase demand.
