Operations and next steps
How do you redesign a Shopify store without losing important search routes?

Preserve useful destinations and content while improving the interface. A redesign needs a release plan, not just approval of new screenshots.
Compare what visitors and crawlers will lose
Record important landing pages and URLs before the change. Review what happens to headings, product identity, language routes and internal links in the new version. A cleaner page can still remove information that helped people choose or find it. Plan relevant redirects and test older links after publication. Monitor Search Console over time and keep a recovery route for implementation faults. Careful work reduces avoidable disruption; it cannot guarantee unchanged search rankings.
Capture the baseline
Record important landing pages, search queries and current URLs using available evidence. Identify content and product identity that should survive the redesign. Keep a copy of the existing theme and relevant exports before approved changes.
Review the release difference
Compare headings, descriptions, internal links, language routes and product availability. Plan relevant redirects for changed URLs. Do not discard useful content simply to make a page look shorter without understanding the role it serves.
Verify after publication
Open representative old and new links, inspect metadata and test purchase routes. Monitor crawl and indexing reports over time. Keep a rollback plan for implementation failures while recognising that search-system responses are not immediate or completely controllable.
Create a before-and-after map
Export or record the important current URLs and identify where each should lead after the redesign. Include pages receiving enquiries or useful search visits, not only products. Check those destinations after release and monitor the relevant reports; keeping the same domain does not by itself preserve every route.
