What does website accessibility mean for a business?

People should be able to understand and use the site with different abilities and input methods. Accessibility is part of how the page works, not just how it looks.
Try a task without a mouse
Use the keyboard to reach a menu, open a dialog and complete a form. Can you see where focus is, understand the controls and close the dialog again? Check meaningful images, contrast and error messages as well. A person who cannot distinguish a colour still needs to know which size is selected. Automated tools can find some faults, but they cannot judge every task. Include manual review and continue checking when editors add new content.
Review real interactions
Check keyboard navigation, visible focus, form labels and readable contrast. Explain meaningful images through suitable alternative text. A person should understand controls without depending solely on colour, animation or a tiny icon.
Test content as well as templates
Long headings, translated labels and uploaded images can introduce barriers even when the initial template looks good. Provide captions or appropriate alternatives for important media. Ask editors to maintain the same principles as new pages are published.
Know the limits of automation
Automated checks can find some issues but do not establish complete accessibility. Combine them with manual task review and relevant expertise. Define the acceptance standard in the project brief rather than promising compliance based on a single score.
Try the site without relying on sight alone
Use keyboard navigation and inspect focus, labels and error messages on the important journey. Check text readability and whether information depends only on colour. Record observed barriers and get specialist review when required; passing one simple check does not establish that the whole site meets every accessibility need.
