Payments, delivery and launch
How should a Shopify store organise local delivery?

Define the area and dispatch process first. A local-delivery option is useful only when customers inside its coverage can receive the promised service.
Do not test only an easy address
Use a central address and one near the service boundary. Review how the store handles missing directions or an unavailable recipient. Agree who contacts the customer and which status the team records after an attempt. If COD is available, keep collection separate from delivery confirmation. Publish preparation and delivery wording that operations approve, then review failed attempts to see whether the problem is coverage, instructions or capacity.
Set practical coverage
Base the area on what drivers or your courier can reliably serve. Review the current Shopify location and delivery eligibility requirements for your configuration. Test addresses near the service boundary rather than relying only on a central address that always qualifies.
Explain the delivery process
Tell customers what happens after purchase and how to provide useful address information. Use a realistic preparation and delivery explanation. Avoid collecting unnecessary personal details in public notes. Agree how the team will contact a customer when directions are incomplete or nobody is available.
Reconcile delivery outcomes
Track whether the order was prepared, dispatched, delivered or requires follow-up. Keep collected payment separate if you also offer COD. Review missed deliveries with operations and revise the coverage or communication when needed. Local delivery is only useful when the experience after checkout matches the advertised service.
Test an address inside and outside the area
Define the delivery boundary and fees in terms your team can honour. Check a qualifying address, a nearby excluded address and a basket that changes any threshold. Explain the available option clearly so customers do not confuse local delivery with another shipping service.
