How should a Shopify store plan product bundles?
Define the included components and check how the chosen bundle tool records and reserves them. A combined image does not create a reliable bundle.
Test a component that sells out
Suppose a set contains a garment and an accessory also sold separately. What happens when the accessory is unavailable? Review the exact tool’s inventory behaviour and what the fulfilment team sees in the order. Explain optional choices and included items accurately. Compare margin and packing work, not only basket value. Decide how a return involving one component is handled before promoting the offer widely.
Specify the contents
State exactly what is included and whether customers can change a component. Use accurate images and explain size or colour choices. Avoid suggesting an accessory is included merely because it appears in a styled photograph.
Check inventory effects
Review how the selected tool treats component stock, unavailable combinations and order records. Test a mixed basket and a component that sells out. Assign responsibility for keeping the bundle aligned with the separate products.
Evaluate the commercial purpose
Compare margin and fulfilment complexity with the intended benefit. A bundle may simplify a customer choice, but a higher basket value alone does not establish profitability. Review returns handling and customer instructions before promoting it widely.
Decide what happens when a component runs out
List the bundle's individual items and determine how the selected setup tracks each component. Test a sale, a return and one unavailable item. The customer-facing offer, stock deduction and staff packing instructions should describe the same set, including any permitted substitutions.
